Lebanese Artists Who Claim They’re “Open-Minded”

A couple of months ago, Lebanese singers Haifa Wehbe and Elissa were asked by their followers on Twitter, whether they were homophobic, but to my surprise, both endorsed the gay community, and said they would respect other people’s sexual orientation regardless of what it is. In an interview with ‘Nadine’ magazine, singer Nelly Makdessy, and actress Dalida Khalil also showed their support for the homosexuals and claimed they wouldn’t be upset if they found out their friends are gay..

Here’s my question: Do you think those artists were being truthful or looking for more publicity and approval from their gay fans?  Either way, I think there is a significant progress in terms of acceptance of other people’s differences in Lebanon.

There is a ray of hope for those who have suffered harassment, and inhumane treatments of their schoolmates, friends, co-workers and even parents due to their sexual orientation.
