Madonna, who walked on the cross in her recent concert in UAE, has raised more confusion and controversy in her concert in Tel Aviv after presenting photographs, mounted on a giant screen that included the pictures of former President Hosni Mubarak, Pope of Rome, the Sheikh, a veiled woman, Hitler on her face, in addition to a lot of other political and religious figures, as well as teenagers who died by suicide due to bullying and discriminations.
I do understand why we as Middle Eastern would be apprehensive to take this road; her way of conveying the message comes across as offensive, but for those of you who are willing to look beyond the superficiality of this behavior, may actually get a different message – free yourself from tyranny, hatred, and racism, not necessarily religion - after all, there is nothing wrong with being religious and open-minded at the same time!
