Madonna’s Message is Beyond Religious Symbols

Madonna, who walked on the cross in her recent concert in UAE, has raised more confusion and controversy in her concert in Tel Aviv after presenting photographs, mounted on a giant screen that included the pictures of former President Hosni Mubarak, Pope of Rome, the Sheikh, a veiled woman, Hitler on her face, in addition to a lot of other political and religious figures, as well as teenagers who died by suicide due to bullying and discriminations.

I do understand why we as Middle Eastern would be apprehensive to take this road; her way of conveying the message comes across as offensive, but for those of you who are willing to look beyond the superficiality of this behavior, may actually get a different message – free yourself from tyranny, hatred, and racism, not necessarily religion -  after all, there is nothing wrong with being religious and open-minded at the same time!
